On the open day, visitors can visit the Parliament Building at their own leisure. Admission is from 8:30am to 3:30pm, and doors close at 4:30pm. Tour guides will recount stories about the building at set times. Visitors can wander through the two council chambers, the Wandelhalle and the Domed Hall, and the Federal Council Chamber in the West Wing of the Federal Palace. Photos by the NGO Helvetas will also be on display in the Destiny in Their Hands exhibition.
The panel discussion will take place from 10am to 11am in the National Council chamber. Dominique de Buman, President of the National Council, and Karin Keller-Sutter, President of the Council of States, will answer questions from the public. The Choeur de la Confrérie from Gruyère, Martin.O and Matthieu Rotzetter will provide musical and theatrical entertainment.
The film Zimmer 286 will be shown in Room 286. It gives visitors a look behind closed doors and shows how assembly members prepare draft bills for debate in the councils. The Zeitungszimmer café is open during the day.
