On the evening of 1 October, the Delegation will meet with Stefano Sannino, Deputy Secretary General of the European External Action Service and the EU’s chief negotiator on the institutional agreement.
On 2 October, the Delegation will first meet with Michael Karnitschnig, the director of external relations at the Secretariat General of the European Commission, and former chef de cabinet of Commissioner Johannes Hahn. The Swiss members of parliament will then go onto have a working lunch with MEP Andreas Schwab, the chair of the European Parliament’s Delegation for Relations with Switzerland. With Dr Fabian Zuleeg, Director of the European Policy Centre, the delegation will exchange views on the ongoing internal EU discussions on the Multiannual Financial Framework 2021-2027 and the ‘Next Generation EU’ reconstruction plan.
The EFTA/EU Delegation will be represented in Brussels by its president, National Council member Eric Nussbaumer (SP, BL), its vice president, Council of States member Benedikt Würth (CVP, SG), National Council members Hans-Peter Portmann (FDP, ZH), Elisabeth Schneider-Schneiter (CVP, BL) and Nicolas Walder (Greens, GE), as well as Council of States members Damian Müller (FDP, LU), and Carlo Sommaruga (SP, GE). The president of the National Council Foreign Affairs Committee, Tiana Angelina Moser (GLP, ZH) will also take part in the working visit.
