With the lifting of entry restrictions among Schengen states, international parliamentary relations are able to resume. At a working lunch in Bern on Friday, 26 June, the president of the National Council will discuss the impact of the coronavirus pandemic and the measures taken to tackle it with the president of the Austrian National Council, Wolfgang Sobotka. A courtesy visit to Council of States president Hans Stöckli (SP, BE) is planned. The Delegation for relations with the Austrian Parliament, represented by Council of States member Alex Kuprecht (SVP, SZ) and National Council member Nicolo Paganini (CVP, SG), will also be involved in the visit.
It is the first foreign trip undertaken by Mr Sobotka since the start of the coronavirus pandemic. In addition to holding official talks at parliamentary level, Wolfgang Sobotka will also be received by the head of the Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research, Federal Councillor Guy Parmelin, and pay a visit to the Federal Office of Public Health.
