Veritable identification mark of the National Council chamber, the five-meter high and twelve-meter wide mural entitled the "Cradle of the Confederation" depicts the Lake of the four Cantons with the region of Schwyz and the Rütli Meadow set against the two jagged Mythen peaks. Closer inspection of the mural reveals a nude at the end of a bank of clouds as an allegory of peace.
