National Council President Dominique de Buman (CVP, FR) and Council of States President Karin Keller-Sutter (FDP, SG) met with Albert Frick, the president of Liechtenstein parliament, the Landtag, in Vaduz on Monday 5 November 2019. The visit further consolidated the excellent relations and traditionally close ties between the parliaments of Switzerland and Liechtenstein. The presidents of the National Council and the Council of States also paid a courtesy visit to His Serene Highness (H.S.H.) Hereditary Prince Alois of Liechtenstein.

​At the invitation of Albert Frick, president of Liechtenstein’s Landtag, the president of the National Council, Dominique de Buman and the president of the Council of States, Karin Keller-Sutter, paid an official visit to the Liechtenstein parliament in Vaduz. Mr de Buman and Mrs Keller-Sutter held talks with Mr Frick and Landtag member Günter Vogt on bilateral matters and current European and international political challenges. They then paid a courtesy visit to H.S.H. Hereditary Prince Alois of Liechtenstein at Vaduz Castle. The day ended with a visit to the Oerlikon premises and a tour of Gutenberg Castle in Balzers.

Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein enjoy excellent, friendly relations with traditionally close ties. Some 10,000 people from Switzerland go to work in Liechtenstein every day. Nearly 1,800 Liechtenstein cross-border commuters travel in the other direction to work in Switzerland. The excellent neighbourly relations are marked by pragmatic cooperation, strong economic interdependence and a steady flow of visitors.

The presidents of the National Council and the Council of States were accompanied on their trip to Vaduz and Balzers by the Swiss ambassador to the Principality of Liechtenstein, Pietro Piffaretti, and the deputy head of International Affairs & Multilingualism, Cédric Stucky.
