The Parliamentary Library provides the Federal Assembly and its organs with reliable information in support of their political work. It offers a personalised research and media monitoring service and access to numerous documentary resources. It also produces data analyses and statistics on the Federal Assembly and its activities.

The Parliamentary Library is a competence centre for questions about Parliament and its history, and supports academic research in this field. It offers researchers privileged access to its specialised resources, assists them in their documentary research and may grant them funding.

At international level, the Parliamentary Library works w​ith the European Centre for Parliamentary Research and Documentation. It responds to questionnaires on parliamentary topics, designs such questionnaires and represents the Parliamentary Services at interparliamentary events.
