On Tuesday, 16 April, the President of the National Council, Maya Graf, received the Dalai Lama, who was visiting Switzerland, for a short meeting in the Parliament Building.

The Dalai Lama, who is the spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhists, regularly visits the 4 000 Tibetans living in Switzerland. The Dalai Lama is known all over the world; his efforts were recognised in 1989 with the Nobel Peace Prize.

The meeting with the President of the National Council took place on the fringes of the special session, in the Swiss spirit of openness and hospitality.
