The main purpose of the working visit is to foster relations between the Swiss Federal Assembly and the French Parliament. The President of the Council of States, Thomas Hefti, will exchange views with the President of the French Senate, Gérard Larcher, on the current cross-border challenges facing the two countries. In light of the current exploratory talks, Switzerland's relations with the European Union and their impact on bilateral cooperation will also be discussed. The war in Ukraine is also on the agenda. Additionally, the Swiss delegation will meet with members of the France–Switzerland Friendship Group of the French Senate, including its president, Senator Bernard Bonne, in order to strengthen relations with the French Parliament.
The Swiss delegation is composed of the President of the Council of States, Thomas Hefti (FDP, GL), the President of the Delegation for Relations with the French Parliament, Council of States member Charles Juillard (The Centre, JU), and the Vice President of the Delegation for Relations with the French Parliament, National Council member Simone de Montollin (FDP, GE).
