The eighth annual meeting of parliamentary presidents of the German-speaking countries will take place on 17 and 18 July. President of the National Council Maja Riniker (FDP, AG) will host this year's event and has invited her counterparts from Germany, Austria, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg and the German-speaking Community of Belgium to her home canton.

This year's conference, which is dedicated to the topic of democracy in transition and strengthening trust in parliaments, will take place in Aargau, Maja Riniker's home canton.

Ms Riniker will be joined by the president of the German-speaking Community of Belgium, Patricia Creutz-Vilvoye, the president of the German Bundestag, Julia Klöckner, the vice president of the Landtag of Liechtenstein, Franziska Hoop, the president of Luxembourg's Chamber of Deputies, Claude Wiseler, and the president of the Austrian National Council, Walter Rosenkranz.

The annual conference, which is attended by parliamentary representatives from Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, and the German-speaking Community of Belgium, was established in 2016 by Norbert Lammert, who was president of the German Bundestag at the time.
