“Bringing people together has been a central priority during my year in office,” said Ms Riniker. “This visit by members of the foreign diplomatic corps to my home canton offers a unique opportunity to exchange ideas and showcase Switzerland’s diversity, particularly the riches that Aargau has to offer.”
With this excursion, Ms Riniker is continuing a tradition established by her predecessors: following the example set by Andreas Aebi (2021), Martin Candinas (2023), and Eric Nussbaumer and Eva Herzog (2024), she is inviting ambassadors to experience her home region at first hand. The programme on 2 September includes a visit to the Paul Scherrer Institute in Villigen, Switzerland’s largest research centre for natural and engineering sciences. This will be followed by an official reception hosted by the Aargau cantonal government and a guided tour of Baden’s historic old town.
