The president of the National Assembly of Burkina Faso, Salifou Diallo, was welcomed to Sion by the president of the Cantonal Council of the Republic and Canton of Valais, Esther Waeber-Kalbermatten, where he met with relatives of the two politicians before traveling to Lens where he laid a wreath in memory of the victims.
Salifou Diallo and the members of his delegation were also received by the mayor of Lens, David Bagnoud. The president of the Burkinabe assembly recalled the strong and longstanding ties of friendship that exist between Switzerland and Burkina Faso. He gave an assurance that Jean-Noël Rey and Georgie Lamon would not be forgotten in Burkina Faso.
On 15 March Salifou Diallo was received by National Council president Jürg Stahl (SVP/ZH), as part of a working visit on Swiss parliamentary procedures and cooperation projects between the two countries. The president of the Burkinabe parliament also met the president of the Council of States, Ivo Bischofberger (CVP/AI) and the president of the Swiss Confederation, Doris Leuthard.
