The president of the National Council, Jürg Stahl (SVP, ZH), will travel to Muscat on 7 and 8 October at the official invitation of the chairman of Oman’s lower house of parliament. Between 8 and 10 October he will pay an official visit to Kuwait which also follows at the invitation of his counterpart at the Kuwaiti parliament. The last leg of Mr Stahl’s journey will take him to the United Arab Emirates where he will attend the WorldSkills Competition in Abu Dhabi.

​At their meeting, the president of the National Council, Jürg Stahl, and the chairman of the Consultative Assembly of Oman, Khalid Hilal Nasser Al-Mawali, will discuss the key features of bilateral relations between Switzerland and the Sultanate of Oman. Also on the agenda are meetings with the chairman of the State Council (upper house), Yahya Mahfoodh Al-Manthri, Deputy Prime Minister Sayyid Fahad Al-Said, and the chairman of the Oman Switzerland Friendship Association.

The journey will then continue to the State of Kuwait, where the Swiss delegation will be officially received by the speaker of the National Assembly, Marzouk Ali al-Ghanim. Discussions are also scheduled to take place with the Emir, the Crown Prince and the Prime Minister.

In the United Arab Emirates, the president of the National Council will attend the official reception for the SwissSkills delegation and watch the WorldSkills Competition in Abu Dhabi.

National Council president Jürg Stahl will be accompanied on his trip by National Council member Christa Markwalder (FDP, BE), and Geneva city councillor and National Council member Guillaume Barazzone (CVP, GE).
