During its working visit to the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in Paris on 7 and 8 July, the new Standing Parliamentary Delegation for Participation in OECD Activities will exchange views with OECD representatives on current key issues.

The Swiss Parliament established the OECD PD in autumn 2021 to deal with OECD topics on its behalf. This ensures that developments within the Organisation are systematically monitored by Parliament and that the various committees concerned stay up-to-date on what is happening.

On its first working visit to the OECD in Paris, the Delegation will exchange views with Deputy Secretary General Kerri-Ann Jones on the OECD’s current challenges and priorities. It will also address the OECD’s global economic forecasts and discuss with relevant stakeholders issues relating to the introduction of global minimum tax, the work of the inclusive forum on approaches for reducing CO2, global food security and the fight against corruption. A meeting with Fatih Birol, Executive Director of the International Energy Agency, is also on the agenda.

Council of States member and OECD PD president Ruedi Noser (FDP, ZH), National Council member and OECD PD vice-president Prisca Birrer-Heimo (SP, LU), Council of States member Erich Ettlin (The Centre, OW), National Council member Alfred Heer (SVP, ZH), National Council member Sophie Michaud Gigon (The Greens, VD) and Council of States member Thomas Minder (independent, SH) are participating in the working visit.
