The Standing Parliamentary Delegation for Participation in OECD Activities will take part in the plenary meeting of the OECD Global Parliamentary Network to be held from 11 to 13 March 2026 in Paris. The delegation will be represented by its president, Council of States member Erich Ettlin (The Centre, OW), and its vice president, National Council member Paolo Pamini (SVP, TI). The delegation will use its presence in Paris to hold bilateral talks with the OECD on issues concerning Switzerland.

Formed in 2011, the OECD Global Parliamentary Network is a platform for parliamentary officials from OECD countries to share their knowledge and experience. The network's annual plenary meeting will take place in Paris from 11 to 13 March 2026. With industrial policy experiencing a renaissance worldwide, this year's meeting will be largely devoted to the growth of industrial policy measures and strategies. The agenda will also include the economic outlook, energy market trends identified by the International Energy Agency and value chains for critical minerals.

The delegation will also meet with the experts responsible for Switzerland at the OECD Economics Department. They will discuss the current economic situation and key structural issues addressed in the OECD country report on Swiss economic policy, which is currently being prepared and will be published in autumn of this year.

On the sidelines of the parliamentary network meeting, the delegation will hold bilateral talks on issues of central importance to the Swiss parliament, particularly in the area of tax policy. The focus will be on implementing global minimum taxation as part of the ‘side-by-side’ package agreed with the US in January. Other topics of discussion will include current trade policy developments, such as the future of multilateral approaches, the importance of bilateral free trade agreements, critical trade dependencies and supply security risks, and the competitiveness of Swiss agriculture. Energy and supply security will also be discussed, in particular the prospects for renewable energies and nuclear energy, the supply of strategic minerals and geopolitical factors influencing the energy markets.

Parliament established the Standing Parliamentary Delegation for Participation in OECD Activities in autumn 2021 on the initiative of the Council of States Economic Affairs and Taxation Committee. It represents the Swiss parliament within the OECD, particularly in the Global Parliamentary Network. The aim is to bring OECD-relevant developments to Parliament at an early stage so that these findings can be directly incorporated into the legislative process in the event of rapid international developments.
