On 11 and 12 June, members of the EFTA/EU Delegation, together with the vice-presidents of the foreign affairs committees of the National Council will meet in Zurich with representatives of the SINEEA Delegation responsible for relations with Switzerland of the European Parliament under the chairmanship of National Councillor Kathy RIKLIN (CVP/ZH) and MEP Jørn DOHRMANN (ECR, Denmark).
On Friday morning, June 12, the members of the two delegations will discuss bilateral relations with the Head of the Western Europe Division at the EU External Action Service (EEAS), Gianluca GRIPPA, and the deputy Head of the Swiss Mission to the EU in Brussels, Josef Philipp RENGGLI. They will also address the progress of discussions underway on outstanding institutional matters related to the bilateral agreements (development, interpretation and supervising implementation of the agreements and dispute resolution).
Further key issues on the agenda of the 34th Interparliamentary Meeting include the ongoing debate on managing and limiting migration while respecting general economic interests; migration issues in the context of Schengen/Dublin; and the negotiations between the EU and the USA on a comprehensive Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership, TTIP and its potential impact in the event that negotiations are completed.
At 12:30pm on Friday 12 June, members of the EFTA/EU Delegation will be available to answer questions and provide further information at a press conference at the Sorell Hotel Zü-richberg (Orellistrasse 21, 8044 Zurich).
