​On Swiss National Day, the Parliamentary Services will once again be opening the doors of the Parliament Building. Between 9am and 4pm, members of the public will be able to visit the chambers of the National Council and the Council of States, the Hall of the Dome, the «salle des pas perdus». They will now also be able to visit the Federal Council Chamber and the Parliamentary Library in the west wing of the Federal Palace.

At 10am, the President of the National Council, Jürg Stahl, and the President of the Council of States, Ivo Bischofberger, will be on hand in the National Council chamber to answer questions. Visitors can learn about the historical aspects of the building at various information points. Events will include musical and theatrical presentations by the «Stadtmusik Illnau-Effretikon», the «Stríchmusig: Neff», «Académie Suisse de Cor des Alpes» and actors from the «StattLand theatre group». The film «Zimmer 286» (Room 286), which gives viewers an insight into the work of the parliamentary committees, will be shown in committee room 286. The film «Erklär mir das Parlament» (Tell me more about Parliament) will be shown in Switzerland’s three official languages in committee rooms 3, 4 and 5. In the committee room 287 a documentary about the work of the «Official Bulletin» will be shown.

The «Zeitungszimmer» café will be open for business.
