The Standing Parliamentary Delegation for Participation in OECD Activities will take part in the plenary meeting of the OECD Global Parliamentary Network, to be held in Paris from 5 to 7 February. The delegation will be represented by its president, National Council member Sophie Michaud Gigon (The GREENS, VD), its vice president, Council of States member Erich Ettlin (The Centre, OW), National Council member Paolo Pamini (SVP, TI) and Council of States members Eva Herzog (SP, BS) and Werner Salzmann (SVP, BE). In addition to taking part in the plenary meeting, the delegation will hold bilateral talks with key OECD contacts to discuss business sectors of specific interest and their implications for Switzerland.

The plenary meeting of the OECD Global Parliamentary Network will take place from 5 to 7 February in Paris. This annual meeting provides parliamentarians with an opportunity to discuss current economic and social challenges with OECD experts and how they can be addressed with public policies.

In keeping with the OECD's broad range of themes, a wide range of topics will be addressed, among them the global economic situation and the risks to economic development posed by heightened geopolitical tensions; general trends in the energy market identified by the International Energy Agency; and the challenges posed by climate change and artificial intelligence.

As in previous years, the delegation members will meet experts from the OECD Economics Department’s Switzerland desk. They will discuss the findings of the report on Swiss economic policy published by the OECD on 14 March 2024 and provide initial input for the next report, to be published in 2026.

The delegation will also conduct bilateral exchanges on the fringes of the Global Parliamentary Network plenary meeting on key topics in Switzerland's relations with the OECD. Trade tensions, supply chain resilience, industrial protectionism, current fiscal developments and the fight against corruption will all be addressed.
